Cavs Sweep Pacers, Advance To East Semis With 106-102 Victory

Rarely does a 4-0 loss in a playoff series give anyone on the losing side reason for optimism, but the Indiana Pacers managed to accomplish that feat in their first-round series against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Following up his triple-double in the Cavs' epic Game 3 comeback, James went for 33 points, 10 rebounds and four assists Sunday despite a cold-shooting fourth quarter.

Lance Stephenson had 22 points to lead the Pacers.

Deron Williams was 2 for 2 on three pointers for 12 points at the break. Myles Turner added 20 points and 9 rebounds.

The Cavs had to survive a late push by the Pacers, who outscored the Cavs 25-18 in the fourth quarter to erase an 11-point deficit.

But James answered with the go-ahead 3-pointer and Cleveland sealed the win on James' free throw with 1 second left. George had 36 points and a postseason career-best 15 rebounds in Game 3 for the Pacers' first 30-point, 15-rebound showing since Jermaine O'Neal contributed 37 points and 15 rebounds in the 2006 first-round series against the then-New Jersey Nets.

Cleveland Cavaliers' Channing Frye (8) shoots against Indiana Pacers' Kevin Seraphin during the first half in Game 4 of a first-round NBA basketball playoff series, Sunday, April 23, 2017, in Indianapolis.

Meanwhile in Cleveland, The Cavaliers will be awaiting the victor of the No. 3 Toronto Raptors vs. The NBA fined Chicago Bulls guard Rajon Rondo $25,000 for attempting to trip Boston Celtics forward Jae Crowder from the bench in Game 3 of their first-round series. "We stop attacking. We start playing the clock, and we just can't do that". It's real frustrating. It's what I work hard for in the summers to try to help lead a team along and ultimately, it's who I am always going to see and face. Nikola Mirotic and seldom-used Isaiah Canaan each scored 13 points, but Dwyane Wade finished with just 11. Cleveland seemed to finally snap into what it is capable of during its run to the lead while the Pacers have to be demoralized after blowing such a big lead at home. There are a ton more numbers, like the superstar scoring or assisting on 73 points in Game 3, but you get the point by now: James is great nearly every night.

"That was a tough team", James said, following the Cavs 106-102 win over the Pacers. "We've just got to continue to be ourselves on offense and defense, whatever we put into play regardless of if people have been banged up lately, just be ready to play if you're on the bench or a starter". He made one of two free throws for the final score. We didn't play with the same spunk and pace.

Kerr stayed behind at the team hotel for Saturday night's Game 3 at Portland's Moda Center.

That affords Cleveland more than a week's rest time while the victor of the Bucks-Raptors series would have mere days to recover and game plan.

A 10-3 spurt - capped by J.R. Smith's 3-pointer - spread the Cavs' lead back to nine at 75-66.
