Xiaomi Mi 6 launched: Dual camera, Snapdragon 835, fingerprint scanner and more

Xiaomi Mi 6 Ceramic Edition was recently launched in China. The 64GB variant of the Xiaomi Mi 6 gets a price tag of around $360, while the 128GB variant of the smartphone is priced at around $420. Though Xiaomi introduced its Surge S1 processor back in February and is the power behind Mi5c which debuted two months ago, it is different when it comes to releasing a flagship smartphone, for now. The SD835 is 10nm thick that should help manage the heating of the phone efficiently while handling resource intensive tasks. The 2×2 802.11ac MU-MIMO Wi-Fi greatly enhances Mi 6's wireless performance, enabling better reception indoors, with fewer blind spots. All the variants have the same features, except for the storage configuration.

As for storage, there's no micro-SD card slot.

Jun stressed that the new Mi 6 has been "precisely crafted like a watch".

One downside to the Xiaomi Mi 6 is that it is NOT running the latest version of Android.

Other notable features of the camera are OIS as standard, 10x digital zoom, 2x lossless zoom and a raft of additional software features that could, if executed well, make the Xiaomi Mi 6's camera one of the best in the business.

On the photography front, the Galaxy S8 boasts a 12MP "Dual Pixel" rear camera with optical image stabilisation and a f/1.7 aperture. As for selfies, there's an 8-megapixel front camera which takes advantage of the new beautification software as well. The sides of the phone are made from stainless steel for a high-gloss outline. Note that the curve is only present at the rear, like the previous Mi 5. However, water and dust-resistance capability is still missing.

The device sports a 5.15-inch display with reduced glare, precise 0.15-nit adjustments. There's also a Ceramic variant of the Mi 6, which costs a little extra. You'll also get to choose between A ceramic and a Silver special edition build. There is an all aluminium frame round the sides of the smartphone. All the three smartphones feature USB Type-C ports for charging and data transfer.

For me personally, those specs read like a description of the flawless phone.

Let's give you a quick rundown of the phone's specifications. OnePlus 3T supports a 3.5mm headphone jack, Sadly, there is no headphone jack on the Mi 6. It's a dual SIM handset that supports nano SIMs. There's Bluetooth 5.0 and NFC for all the wireless connections you are ever going to need. The default storage on offer with the Xiaomi Mi 6 is either 64GB or 128GB, with no option to further boost it. It comes with Android 7.0 Nougat operating system out-of-the-box. But Xiaomi Mi 6 has not followed the trend.

The Xiaomi Mi 6's display is quite adaptive.
