Warriors Take 2-0 Series Lead Over Blazers

Portland Trail Blazers' shooting percentage as they were restricted by a smothering Golden State Warriors' defence. It didn't happen Sunday as the Warriors posted a 121-109 victory to open their best-of-seven playoff series. McCaw eased into a 27-foot three-pointer that turned out to be the most important basket of the night for the Warriors.

The Blazers will be without center Jusuf Nurkic, who has a fractured right leg.

Will the Golden State Warriors run past the Portland Trail Blazers when they meet tonight at 10:30PM ET in Game 2 of their series? CJ McCollum and Damian Lillard scored a combined 23 points, which is about a third of the damage they inflicted in game one. Then in a remake of the regular season, the Durant-less Warriors reached into their bag of championship tricks and pulled out the defense that made them wholly unstoppable in a 3-year run for the National Basketball Association history books. Usually Curry likes to set the table out of the gate, but given Golden State's holes, it was on him to self-generate some offense. But this isn't the first time Durant has missed a game.

"They know that's what our team is build on", Kerr said of the Golden State defense.

Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr said Wednesday night he didn't have to implore his guys to ramp up their defensive intensity with star forward Kevin Durant out of the lineup.

Head to head, the Warriors are 35-17 ATS in the last 52 meetings overall and 11-5 ATS in the last 16 meetings in Portland. "We know how we execute what our bread and butter is at the other end of the floor and we've got to rely on that and not get into that one-on-one battle at all".

"I've had hops for awhile", Thompson said.

At halftime, TNT analyst Charles Barkley - commonly a Warriors pessimist - predicted a second-half shootout because "neither of these teams are good defensively".

"We've got to have this one", Lillard said.

According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the Warriors are favored at home, as they are getting odds of -13.5 points against the Blazers.

Durant has managed 25.1 points, 8.3 rebounds and 4.9 assists in his first season in the Bay Area after choosing the Warriors in free agency.

With the 110-81 win, the Warriors go up 2-0 and the question becomes whether they will lose a game as they look towards the second round.

Kerr labeled the injury not serious but noted that Durant would be re-examined before a decision on a possible return for Game 3 on Saturday in Portland would be made. Kevin Durant (left calf), Matt Barnes (right ankle) and Shaun Livingston (right hand) are questionable.
