FA Cup will not impact Wenger's future at Arsenal

It means an end to his season but, with just over a year remaining on his deal at Arsenal, Wenger is still ready to offer the player a new contract.

But, asked yesterday if winning the Cup for a seventh time would have a bearing on his future, Wenger said: "It doesn't play any part in that".

"The cup-tie could go either way with Spurs arriving in sensational form in the top-flight, but with a awful record at this stage of the competition having lost their last 6 successive FA Cup semi-finals".

"So it's a special experience and we are focused and highly motivated".

"We now have a little break from the Premier League, so let's prepare well for the game on Sunday".

But Wenger has finally had his say on the speculation and speaking in the Daily Express, he rubbished the claims that his side has agreed a deal with Kolasinac, possibly opening the door for Everton to sign the 23-time Bosnia and Herzegovina worldwide. Wenger conceded his team were not bursting with confidence after their recent woes but said they would be determined to land silverware. "Ospina could be back in ten days".

The Bosnia-Herzegovina international's contract expires at the end of the season and he has been heavily linked with the Gunners, as well as Manchester City and AC Milan.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's impressive display earlier in the week shouldn't be overlooked, however, and the versatile utility man deserves another go in central midfield where he has also shone on occasion this season. Unfortunately I'm flying back to the United States from England during the game so I'll have to miss it. But what will I do?

Wenger told reporters he had discussed the situation with medical staff.

Alexis is likely to start through the middle while Theo Walcott looks set to return following his omission against Boro, but a midfield partnership of Granit Xhaka and Aaron Ramsey is likely to be kept intact.

Gabriel and Rob Holding filled in alongside Laurent Koscielny on Monday, and the added numbers in the centre could go some way to making up for the downgrade in quality from Mustafi's absence.

Aguero has 11 goals in his last 11 games, and could put a shaky Arsenal defence to the sword here.

John Stones has received his fair share of critics since arriving at the Etihad Stadium for £47.5m while defenders such Bacary Sagna, Pablo Zabaleta, Gael Clichy and Aleksandar Kolarov are all above thirty years old.

Sergio Aguero is their top scorer with 29 goals this season. Wenger has won the trophy a record equalling six times and Wembley could be his salvation again as they face Manchester City in Sunday's semi-final.

"What I expect when you go into a semi-final is to go to the final". Their last defeat at this stage was in 1932 against Arsenal.

They are now seven points behind fourth-placed Man City, with a game in hand on Pep Guardiola's side so could cut that lead to just four points.

There other changes also that players must adapt to.

Kick-off is at 15:00 BST on Sunday, 23 April and the match is live on BT Sport in the United Kingdom and on FOX Sports 1 in the US.
