Easy choice: Browns CB Haden wants Garrett with No. 1 pick

As for the rumored compensation, the idea of the Browns giving up selections No. 52 and No. 145 is more palatable than sending No. 33 and No. 108 to NY.

Brown's comments Wednesday dispel offseason rumors. As of right now, Cleveland has Brock Osweiler, Kevin Hogan and Cody Kessler under contract at quarterback. He is a positive young man who has some ability and talent. Brown's phone is ringing with offers for the No. 1 pick but he seems content to keep it and take the player they want rather than dancing down the board and out of the top 10 for a second straight year. "But are we planning on it or is that the plan? No". "We prepare a lot", Brown said.

One of the only criticisms of Garrett is that it appeared he took plays off during his three seasons in college.

The Browns also own the No. 12 overall pick, a selection they could use to find that elusive franchise quarterback, and five of the first 65 picks.

The Browns were 31 of 32 franchises a year ago in total defense, so I think Garrett would also be a good fit.

The Cleveland Browns hold the first pick in the 2017 NFL Draft on Thursday night. They need a player like him and he'd be another piece in the youth movement they're trying to usher in for a brighter future.

"Whatever team takes me, it's going to be a steal", Peppers said.

"We've narrowed it down", Brown said, without letting on. "Lynch won't have a strong market for the No. 2 pick, because if a team loves, say (North Carolina quarterback Mitch) Trubisky and feels it must get him, the Niners will be able to move down even if the return isn't as lucrative as a traditional trade-down from that slot". Brown told the media they had received calls about the No. 1 pick, and one in particular called about trading up to draft a quarterback. "We do think we're positioned obviously very different coming out of 2015".

"There are only so few people who walk the earth who can play the quarterback position in the NFL", Browns vice president of Player Personnel Andrew Berry said.

The Browns worked out Trubisky and have spent a lot of time with him. "We were impressed by him".

Berry added, "There are only so few players that walk the Earth who can play quarterback in the National Football League". They had a private workout with DeShone Kizer of Notre Dame and Patrick Mahomes of Texas A&M in March.

USA Today's Tom Pelissero joined The Audible on KNBR 1050 to talk about the 49ers' potential thinking heading into the draft.

Like all moves down, it will depend on the players on the board and it's hard to project what prospects would be available at No. 10 overall.
