Bill O'Brien, Texans Love 'Cannon-Armed' Patrick Mahomes

The quarterback market in the 2017 NFL Draft is fascinating because of the questionable talent and myriad needs up and down the NFL for help now and in the future.

Certain quarterback traits can be wildly overrated simply because they're pleasing to the eye, but it's hard not to enjoy former Texas Tech quarterback Patrick Mahomes' arm strength on simply a surface level. Since 2001, there have been 12 quarterbacks taken with the number one overall pick.

"I feel like a lot of coaches like me, but especially coach (Bill) O'Brien".

Perhaps no quarterback is seriously being considered, but given the need at the position, that is very unlikely.

Mahomes is definitely talented and he has tremendous upside, but he is extremely raw.

"I felt like the visits with most of those clubs came after I had a good workout, and they invited me afterward".

There's a chance that these moves could be a smokescreen to try and make other teams think they're going after Mahomes in an effort to disguise their interest in another quarterback, or it could be legitimate pre-draft homework on a polarizing prospect. "That tells me they saw something they liked and they want to know you a little better", Mahomes said. Houston is expected to take a quarterback in the draft, although not necessarily in the first round. One comment that could prove this added connection to be true is the fact that the Bills have hosted plenty of quarterbacks in recent weeks.

By the end of the first day of the draft, Mahomes should be a member of the Browns, Bears, Cardinals, Texans, or Kansas City Chiefs.
