Logitech says that the POP Smart Button will be available soon exclusively at Apple Stores and on Apple.com and later this year from other retailers. The button can be programmed to "do things" through three commands - one press, two presses, and a long press. This means that you don't need to drill new switches into your wall, and you could literally place these POP buttons anywhere and they would work.

The Pop Smart Buttons, a suite of smart-home ready accessories launched last year, previously offered compatibility with compatible with most smart home brands including Phillips, LIFX, Sonos, Harmony, and Belkin. You could wire up Logitech's spring-mounted Pop buttons instead of having to fish out your smartphone for basic tasks like adjusting an internet-connected lightbulb or thermostat. The new Pop still ships with an adhesive rear cover, and connects to a smartphone or tablet via Bluetooth. The company announced Monday it was adding HomeKit support to a new version of the Pop, a small button you can program to act as a light switch or trigger a HomeKit scene. The product will go on sale at more outlets later in the year.

It's a plug-and-play affair with just about every product that Logitech's Harmony remote platform supports. The POP also supports Osram lighting, Hunter Douglas and Lutron blinds, August, Philips Hue, Logitech Harmony, and more outside of HomeKit.

"You still want it to be simple, you still want it to be capable", Logitech's senior director of Home Control Neil Raggio said. The Logitech POP kit is priced at $60 which includes one button and the bridge, and additional buttons will be priced at $40 each. The button comes in four different colors to match the style of your living space, but colour options are not yet available for the hub, and neither is a release date - we just know that it is "coming soon".
