IMac 2017 release date, specs, rumors: Will the line be discontinued?

Yet again, there was no mention about the long-anticipated iMac 2017 refresh. On the other hand, with the recent release of the new Ryzen 7 chipset from AMD, there are also talks that Apple may consider using this as the central processing unit (CPU) of the upcoming device. It is also rumored to come in a slimmer and lighter design compared to its predecessors. It can be recalled that the last iMac update was back in 2015, with the integration of the Retina 5K display. The "latest" version of the Macintosh computer came out a year and a half ago.

It seems that the Cupertino, California-based tech titan may have forgotten about its all-in-one desktop. After all, the iPhone is now the hot seller and, understandably, the main priority.

Apple CEO Tim Cook has made it clear that the iMac and the rest of the desktop ensemble are still very much on board even with the absence of public updates.

Last year, Tech Crunch said that Apple CEO Tim Cook assured its employees that they are still committed to the desktop and that they have plans to develop and launch great desktops soon.

Of course, no timetable is actually set.

The current-generation Apple iMac. "The conference, kicking off June 5, will inspire developers from all walks of life to turn their passions into the next great innovations and apps that customers use every day across iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Apple TV and Mac".

The next Apple event in which the new iMac could be announced is all the way to September 2017.

According to Korea Portal, this will be the ideal processor for the iMac as Apple iMac 2017 will be able to give a high-level performance with minimal power supply thereby ensuring very high efficiency regarding the operation. If the June launch doesn't push through, fans would have to hope and wait for a late third quarter or early fourth quarter unveiling.

Hopefully, Apple will be providing more information about the "iMac 2017" in the coming weeks or months.
