If the latest reports are to be believed then tech giant's Surface Book and Surface Pro 4 discounts suggest that Microsoft wants to clear its inventory to make the way for its new models. Firstly, the 2-in-1 design is literally the best thing about the Surface Book and its USP.

According to sources, Microsoft has made a decision to keep a lower price range for its Surface Book 2 because the previous versions of the device did not have much demand.

Microsoft's Surface Book was an object of desire for me, but also rather too expensive to seriously consider. If the website is correct, the Surface Book 2 will arrive as a traditional laptop - no removable tablet screen - and will feature a significantly lower price in an effort to jumpstart the numbers.

By ditching the detachable display - while keeping the overall dimensions of the device similar to the current model - the Surface Book 2 will reportedly be priced as low as $1,000.

According to DigiTimes, sources told them that the "Surface Book 2" had already entered mass production and Microsoft is expecting shipments to rise each month.

The updated Surface Book 2 is expected to hit the markets by March end or April 2017. On a related note, the company recently slashed the cost of its existing range. "Because of these two factors, the sources estimate that Microsoft only shipped 500,000 Surface Books in 2016".

With a little patience, both of the initial Surface Book problems would have been sufficiently addressed.

The sources say that Microsoft is lowering the price of the new Windows 10 machine to attract more buyers.

"Unfortunately, the Surface Phone" will probably be the last roll of the dice for Microsoft.

The Surface Pro 5 from Microsoft is the first Surface device to be launched this year, but that's not the only reason it's one of the most highly anticipated devices of the year - other than just about every smartphone coming out in 2017. Instead, Microsoft apparently adopted the traditional clamshell design for the device instead.

The Microsoft Surface Phone that might give a tough competition to Apple and Google phones will be delayed.
