As of February 10th, 2017, the Resident Evil series as a whole has shipped over 76 million copies worldwide. This is down to the fact that it would mean fans would have a new and fresher take on the game and Resident Evil 2 Remake would also be more frightening.
Capcom announced that worldwide shipments of Resident Evil 7 for PS4, Xbox One and PC have surpassed 3 million units.
However, the new Resident Evil 7 has arrived but there hasn't been any sign of the demo of Resident Evil 2 Remake.
These numbers are impressive for sure, but it's worth noting that they aren't necessarily as strong as Capcom was hoping. The success of the film has cemented Resident Evil as the highest grossing game-to-film adaptation series of all time, pushing the franchise's total box office gross over the $1 billion mark.
Resident Evil 7 embodies the series' signature gameplay elements of exploration and tense atmosphere that first coined "survival horror" some twenty years ago; meanwhile, a complete refresh of gameplay systems simultaneously propels the survival horror experience to the next level.
