Teacher cartwheels in front of class ‘while wearing no underwear’ gets arrested

Lacey Sponsler is in the Osage County jail after police say she was caught on camera exposing herself to Pawhuska students while doing a cartwheel. The purported crime: showing off her cartwheel skills sans underwear.

The Pawhuska Police Department says a student recorded the incident on a cellphone.

The Pawhuska Police Department announced the arrest on January 31 in the following press release, as published on the website of the local Fox affiliate KOKI: "On today's date we were made aware of an incident which had allegedly occurred during a high school choir class".

A substitute teacher in Oklahoma was arrested for indecent exposure after students said she performed a cartwheel in a classroom while not wearing any underwear, KOTV in Tulsa reported.

Officials say she also told them to destroy the video.

The State Department of Education requires districts to do background checks on substitute teachers.

The student reportedly told police the teacher had announced to the class that she was not wearing underwear before performing the cartwheel. A female student told cops that the teacher had been "talking about using drugs" and saying that "fourteen-year-old boys were like men". She claimed instead that she was "just dancing with the students" and "trying to be a cool teacher".

Court records show she received a deferred sentence in 2008 after pleading guilty to public intoxication, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a university.
